Job overview

Applications are invited for the post of General Practitioners in the Urgent Care Centre (UCC) at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (CUH).

This post is available to commence as soon as possible for a period of 2 years. 

The UCC at the Trust is expanding, and we are seeking motivated, clinically confident General Practitioners to join our established multidisciplinary team. This is an excellent opportunity to work within one of the UK’s leading teaching hospitals, delivering high quality urgent care to a diverse patient population.

The UCC provides rapid assessment and treatment for patients with urgent but non life threatening conditions. 

Main duties of the job

The role offers a unique blend of the pace and variety of emergency care with the holistic, person-centred approach of general practice, supported by close collaboration with Emergency Medicine colleagues.

As a GP in the Urgent Care Centre, you will:

• Provide timely clinical assessment, diagnosis and management of patients with urgent care presentations, utilising your Primary Care expertise to provide high quality decision making

• Work closely with the Emergency Medicine team and wider multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, effective care

• Contribute to safe streaming and effective patient flow supporting appropriate use of urgent and emergency services

• Have opportunities to participate in clinical governance, audit, and service development helping to continually improve patient care

• Help shape a forward thinking urgent care model within CUH

Working for our organisation

The applicant must have demonstrable skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking in English that enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues, as set out in the GMC’s Good Medical Practice (2013). Non-UK applicants must possess the IELTS/OET exam before obtaining a GMC licence to practice.
