Job overview
Applications are invited for the post of Consultant in Clinical Oncology specialising in Head & Neck and Skin Cancers (8PAs). This is a substantive post to commence as soon as possible.
We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic colleague to join the established head and neck and skin oncology teams at Cambridge University Hospital.
Main duties of the job
It is expected that the prospective candidate will have significant head and neck and skin cancer experience with a particular emphasis on the management of salivary gland tumours, trial development and recruitment.
We expect applicants to:
- Maintain the highest clinical standards in the management of head and neck and skin cancers.
- Share with colleagues the responsibility for day-to-day management of the clinical service.
- Participate in complex radiotherapy planning and treatment techniques.
- Deliver systemic therapy.
- Recruit to and actively participate in clinical trials.
- Play an active role in the design of original clinical trials and studies.
- Supervise undergraduates, Resident Doctors and other staff.
- Participate in multi-disciplinary meetings, ward rounds and on call commitments.
You will be fully registered with the GMC and ideally have CCT or be within six months of award of CCT at the time of interview. Applications are welcomed from those unable to work full time for personal reasons or those wishing to job-share.

The applicant must have demonstrable skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking in English that enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues, as set out in the GMC’s Good Medical Practice (2013).
