Job overview

Applications are invited for the post of Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Addenbrooke’s hospital with a specialist interest in Head & Neck Oncology with reconstruction. Other roles will include general Maxillofacial Surgery clinics and surgery, treating trauma patients and on-call duties.

We have two posts available and the principle remit of these posts is to provide a high quality Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery service.

Main duties of the job

The post holders will take part in head and neck MDT, develop a role within reconstruction with the plastic surgeons. These posts will also offer the opportunity to help develop sentinel node biopsy service for oral cancer.

You will be fully registered with the GMC and ideally have a CCT in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery or be within six months of award of CCT at the time of interview. Applications are welcomed from those unable to work full time for personal reasons or those wishing to job-share.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The post holders will complement the existing Maxillofacial consultant team at Addenbrooke’s Hospital.

They will be expected to participate in on call rota which at weekends is shared with the Peterborough Maxillofacial Surgery department on a 1:8 basis. Additional team members include 4 speciality registrars (including one out of program research registrar who continues to participate in the on call activity), 6 DCT’s, 6 clinical fellows (who provide out of hours cover), 3 speciality surgeons and 1 FY2.
