Applications are invited for the posts of Clinical Fellow Higher (ST6+) in (PaNDR) at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Post 1 available to commence from 05 August 2026 for 6 months.
Post 2 available to commence from 01 September 2026 for 6 months.
This post has previously been occupied by a number of trainees who have found it beneficial to have exposure in Acute Paediatric Retrieval.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will participate on the Middle Grade rota which is a full shift pattern and regulated by the European working time directive (EWTD).
Support for study and professional leaves are built in the job plan and participation in research and audit activities is strongly encouraged, although the training opportunities associated with this post will be equal to those for the Specialty Registrars in the department.
In order to be considered, applicants must meet the essential criteria outlined in the person specification.
Please note that this post does not carry Postgraduate Dean’s approval or training recognition, however the applicant may use the experience as an Out of Programme Experience (OOPE).
Full Registration and a Licence to Practice with the General Medical Council at point of commencement is required.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
This post will also be appealing to senior trainees including post CCT holders in Paediatrics (with HDU Spin), Anaesthetics, Emergency medicine and ICM who are wishing to gain further Acute Paediatric or Paediatric Critical Care experience guided and supported by the national PICS-ATG transport Passport Curriculum. It would be particularly suited to those wishing to gain experience at middle grade level in a centre of excellence before seeking their first Consultant post.
PaNDR serves the region of East of England (EoE). This Service is co-located with the neonatal Service based at Addenbrookes Hospital and serves 15 large non-paediatric specialist district general hospitals in addition to Addenbrookes Hospital.
PaNDR has been covering the region of the East of England from 01 April 2022 24/7. The Service currently comprises three teams on the paediatric side and similar number on the neonatal arm of PaNDR with each having purpose-designed ambulances and highly trained Ambulance Technicians.

Essential criteria
- MRCPCH or an equivalent qualification
- To be eligible for appointment at ST6+ level you are required to have completed Specialty Registrar or equivalent training to ST6 level passing the associated competencies
- For Paediatricians: Previous experience of at least 12 months in a PICU and/or Retrieval Service and/or PEM
- For Anaesthetists: Two years’ experience of Anaesthesia
- For Adult Medicine/ED Candidates: Two years’ experience of Accident and Emergency or Two years’ experience in adult based Intensive Care Medicine
Desirable criteria
- One-year previous experience in Neonatology and/or Paediatric Intensive Care
- Transport of critically ill neonates and/or paediatric patients
