Job overview
The Materials Management Supervisor will report to the Deputy Supply Chain Manager, with responsibility for the delivery and development of efficient and effective services, with robust systems and processes.
The post holder will act as co-supervisor for the ATC Theatre Top-Up Services facilitated by the Procurement & Supply Chain team, linking in with Distribution and out of hour service supervisors operating within this area.
Activities will include ensuring that theatres/wards/clinics team to conduct stock counts to raise orders, picking goods from the stores, receipting and putting away the stock, alongside undertaking these activities themselves whilst providing supervision and acting as escalation point.
The role of Materials Management Supervisor does not fall within the current UK Government list of eligible occupations nor meet salary requirements for sponsorship.
Main duties of the job
Alongside facilitating receiving of NHS Supply chain deliveries and direct purchase orders from suppliers, the Supervisor will instill best practice amongst colleagues.
You must have good attention to detail for daily stock counts, analytical skills for demand forecasting alongside strong interpersonal skills as you will be the interface between the Procurement & Supply Chain department and our clinical users across the Trust.
You will provide excellent customer service to end-users, in person and via electronic communication and where required scheduling urgent deliveries.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Educated to A-level or equivalent level of education
Desirable criteria
- Educated to Level 4 qualification (Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT Level 4), Foundation Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain or Business)
Experience
Essential criteria
- Demonstrable experience of supervising staff, including workload allocation, performance management and sickness management.
- Prioritisation of workload activities in order to achieve agreed service levels.
- Interpretation and explanation of policies and procedures to team members.
- Experience of Customer Service in related or similar environments
- Experience analysing stock usage data and implementing stock optimisation improvements.
- Experience resolving non-routine stock discrepancies or supply disruptions.
Desirable criteria
- Experience of Supply Chains, stock control or purchasing/supply
- Experience of working within a Stock Control, Purchase, supply / logistics environment
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Clear understanding of stock keeping and stock management techniques including a clear understanding of FIFO and stock rotation methods
- Understanding of Materials Management processes and associated workflow.
- Knowledge of software-based Inventory Management programmes
- Understanding of Health & Safety in the workplace
- Knowledge of inventory optimisation techniques including PAR level management and demand variation.
- Understanding of audit requirements relating to stock control and receipting.
