Our innovative virtual ward integrates seamlessly with other healthcare providers, ensuring patients receive expert care at home while reducing hospital pressures.

Dependant on the clinical speciality, our Consultant team take either primary responsibility for the patient or work alongside speciality teams and assist in their management. 

This post has been created to enable expansion of the Virtual Ward service which has already proven to reduce length of stay and improve patient experience. The post will provide Consultant level leadership to the 46 bedded virtual ward, with plans for expansion in the future.

Main duties of the job

You will be fully registered with the GMC and ideally have a CCT in a relevant medical specialty (i.e. Acute/ General Medicine) or be within six months of award of CCT at the time of interview. The primary responsibility of the post is to provide clinical leadership and direct clinical care for the virtual ward service based at Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge, domiciliary visits and close liaison with neighbouring health care providers is required. The successful candidate may be able to combine virtual ward with an appropriate complementary speciality or acute/general medicine.

The applicant must have demonstrable skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking in English that enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues, as set out in the GMC’s Good Medical Practice (2013). Non-UK applicants must possess the IELTS/OET exam before obtaining a GMC licence to practice.
