Job overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic/experienced senior nurse to be our Associate Director of Nursing & Quality (ADNQ) for the Adults and Specialist Mental Health (ASMH) Directorate. You will lead the nursing workforce and on quality across our Directorate to ensure we provide a high-quality service, deliver great service user and carer experience and meet all quality assurance and regulatory requirements.

As the Associate Director of Nursing & Quality you will be working alongside the Operations Director, Clinical Director and senior leadership team to ensure compliance activities meet the needs of the regulators. In this role you will provide high quality strategic, professional and operational nursing leadership to ensure that we always deliver excellent care to our service users. You will inspire your colleagues to innovate the way they work to improve staff morale, retention and development and lead on the creation and delivery of a quality improvement programme and strategy.
Main duties of the job
As the most senior nurse in the Directorate, you will carry responsibility to act as a strong role model for all colleagues by demonstrating credibility & visibility, strong commitment to identifying development opportunities, celebrating success & encouraging creativity, innovation & excellence in practice, Lead on the Quality, Governance & Compliance standards across the Directorate.
Liaise closely with relevant directorate leadership team (DLT) for the ASMH Directorate to ensure their compliance activities meet the needs of the regulators & clinical areas with which they are linked.
Please note for this role you will be required to travel independently around the county meeting strict time deadlines. You will need to hold a full UK driving licence* and have use of a vehicle. You cannot use public transport for this role as this is not a reliable form of transport and will not allow you to meet service needs. - To provide professional leadership to all nursing and other non-medical staff, promoting high standards of care and a responsive workforce.
- To have oversight on the provision of assurance on risk management systems and processes within the Directorate.
- To lead on CQC compliance for the Directorate.
- To work with the Operations Director on the development and implementation of clinical quality strategic objectives, in line with the Trust wide quality objectives.
- To work with the Trust complaints team and lead on the management of complaints within the Directorate. This will include ensuring there are action plans to address areas for improvement and that assurance is provided before action plans are signed off.
- Maintain excellent relationships with clinical staff, leaders and external stakeholders and to communicate sensitively and effectively. Evidence of excellent communication skills both verbal and written between all grades and to large groups both internal and external.
- To be responsible for monitoring nursing staffing issues across the Directorate.
- Direct the contribution to the periodic establishment review.
- To lead on the implementation of national quality drivers arising from national enquires.
- To contribute to local and national strategies for Nursing, Clinical Governance and Patient Safety by participating in external events and forums ensuring a visible CPFT profile. In conjunction with the Care Group Heads of Nursing and the Head of Compliance and Effectiveness and other senior clinical staff and managers to ensure the successful implementation of the Trust's Clinical Quality Strategy across the Directorate.

Education / Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse (RMN/RN)
- Post Graduate qualification
- Master’s Degree in relevant subject, or equivalent substantive experience and willingness to undertake Master’s Degree plus experience to Doctorate level.
