Are you a technically skilled professional with a passion for ensuring patient safety and clinical excellence through medical technology? We are seeking a highly motivated Clinical Engineering Technician to join our dedicated team at Hinchingbrooke Hospital.
In this vital role, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and commissioning a wide range of medical and healthcare equipment used across multiple clinical settings—from wards and theatres to critical care and emergency departments. You’ll play a central role in keeping our equipment safe, compliant, and fully operational to support patient care.

Main duties of the job
- Deliver preventative maintenance, servicing, calibration, and repairs on a broad range of electrical, electronic, and mechanical medical devices.
- Support the commissioning and acceptance of new medical equipment.
- Diagnose faults and carry out corrective actions on patient-connected and life-support systems.
- Provide technical advice and support to clinical staff, promoting safe and effective equipment use.
- Work across various departments, occasionally under pressure, to support urgent clinical needs.
- Maintain meticulous technical records in line with ISO 9001:2015 standards and Trust protocols.
- Contribute to training, continuous improvement, and development initiatives within the Clinical Engineering service.

Education/Knowledge and Qualifications
Essential criteria
- HNC or Level 4 qualification in Clinical Engineering, Electronics, or equivalent
Desirable criteria
- Further technical or vocational training (e.g., medical device servicing courses)
- Working towards professional registration (EngTech)
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of working with electronic or electromechanical systems
Desirable criteria
- Previous NHS or healthcare engineering experience
- Experience using a CMMS (e.g., e-Quip)
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Basic understanding of medical equipment safety and function
- Familiarity with health and safety practices
Desirable criteria
- Awareness of standards such as IEC 62353, UK MDR
