Job overview

The role will be supporting our Antenatal Day Services to deliver the maternity immunisation programme to pregnant women as well as other antenatal outpatient activity to those attending the Antenatal Day Services at North West Anglia Foundation Trust (Main base: Hinchingbrooke Hospital). 

Please note we are only able to accept applicants from those with a live NMC, or UK nursing students waiting PIN. We are unable to support OSCE at this time.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide Maternity vaccinations including but not exclusive to Flu and Pertussis vaccinations.
  • To assist the Antenatal Day Services department with the delivery of intravenous infusions, preoperative assessments and anti D administration as required.
  • Contribute to supporting the clinical areas as required.
  • The post holder in carrying out their duties will occasionally be exposed to blood, urine and other bodily fluids and should ensure they are up to date with all immunisations and adhere to strict infection control practice and uniform policy.
  • Provide pre and post vaccination counselling.
  • To be prepared to work flexibly pan site as required to cover service needs.

Person specification

Education and Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered NMC Nurse or Midwife
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • Current professional portfolio demonstrating ongoing professional development and further education
Desirable criteria
  • Immunisation knowledge and skills framework competencies

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Minimum of 2 years Nursing experience
  • Evidence of relevant clinical update, including Nursing mandatory skills & drills and other regulatory mandatory training
  • Have worked in a multi-agency approach
  • Use of computerised information systems
Desirable criteria
  • Experience/education in specialist subject
  • Vaccination

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of NMC rules and standards
  • Ability to demonstrate understanding of professional accountability and clinical governance
Desirable criteria
  • Aware of current research / reports / guidelines relating to immunisation and public health
