This new specialist role will lead on the development and delivery of our ultrasound Quality Assurance (QA) programme in line with IPEM Report 102 and BMUS Guidelines, ensuring every ultrasound system in the Trust meets the highest standards for patient safety and diagnostic accuracy. You will also oversee medical equipment service contracts and support our ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 quality management systems

Main duties of the job

  • Lead the commissioning, baseline testing, and ongoing QA of ultrasound systems and probes, ensuring compliance with UKAS, BMUS, and IPEM requirements.
  • Analyse performance trends to inform condition-based replacement strategies, extending asset life and reducing unnecessary capital spend.
  • Manage service and maintenance contracts for medical equipment, ensuring high performance, compliance, and value for money.
  • Support internal and external audits, including UKAS accreditation and ISO 9001 / ISO 13485 compliance.
  • Provide specialist technical advice to clinical and engineering colleagues and deliver training on ultrasound QA and basic care procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records within the Trust’s medical equipment management system (e.g., e-Quip).
