Job overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a Labour Ward Co-ordinator to join our existing team at Hinchingbrooke Hospital Site or Peterborough City Hospital. As a Midwife Co-ordinator you will be responsible for the day to day co-ordination of the activity on the labour ward.

Main duties of the job

  • Leading and managing the team, providing expert clinical midwifery care.
  • Setting and monitoring performance standards for both activity and staff, ensuring a high-performing and supportive working environment.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, compassionate and effective care for all women.
  • Offering expert leadership advice to enhance midwifery practice.
  • Taking a proactive role in the development of midwifery within the unit and beyond

Person specification

Education, Knowledge and Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered Midwife
  • Relevant Degree or evidence of further study and experience to the equivalent
  • Evidence of further study at post registration level.
  • Sign Off Mentor
  • Conversant with change management and service innovation processes
  • Demonstrate awareness of current professional issues.
  • Computer and keyboard literate
Desirable criteria
  • Further Study in Special Care of Babies

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of 3 years sound clinical midwifery experience.
  • Evidence of participation in risk and clinical governance agendas.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of management of a team

Communication

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of Professional Communication to all members of the MDT
  • Evidence of appropriate and timely escalation
