Job overview
We have the rare opportunity to offer a skilled ST3+ a position within our sort after trust within the Obstetrics and Gynaecology department.
The post-holder will be required to participate in middle grade junior doctors on call rota along with other clinical activities according to current UK practice. They will need to have experience in and be able to manage common Obstetric problems, including failure to progress in labour, secondary arrest of labour, induction of Labour, PET, sepsis, APH and PPH. Although there is always a consultant resident on the delivery suite during the daytime and twilight shifts (until 2130), out of hours the post-holder will be required to have clinical experience in and be competent to provide clinical service in obstetrics and gynaecology.

Person specification
Education and Qualifications
Essential criteria
- • MBBS (or equivalent)
- • Full GMC Registration
- • MRCOG part 1
- • Evidence of acquired skills
Desirable criteria
- • CCT and/or inclusion on the Specialist Register of GMC or within six months of Appointments Advisory Committee
- • Labour Ward or Labour Ward Lead ATSM’s
- • Intermediate Ultrasound certificate
Experience & Knowledge
Essential criteria
- • Labour ward skills to ST3+ or above
- • Willingness to teach clinical skills to undergraduate and postgraduate trainees
Desirable criteria
- • Any other subspecialty skill
- • Ability to organise rotas
- • Participation in relevant research projects
Academic Achievements
Essential criteria
- • Evidence and experience in planning and participating in clinical audit projects
- • ALS
Desirable criteria
- • MOET course
Key Skills

- • Effective written (including record keeping) and verbal communication skills including with women and families and other professionals
- • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to use tact, diplomacy, negotiation and persuasion as well as authority
