We are looking for a motivated and compassionate Assistant Psychologist to join our psychological workforce in the Adult Locality Teams (ALTs) in North Cambridgeshire. We have one 1.0 WTE (5 days) 12 month fixed-term Assistant Psychologist vacancy. This post is to cover the maternity leave of another staff member and cannot be extended beyond this fixed-term period. The post will be based in the two Peterborough Adult Locality Teams in the city of Peterborough.
The Adult Locality Teams provide high quality care to people aged 17-65 who are experiencing mental health difficulties in the moderate-to-severe range with additional concerns about safety or functional impairment. The service consists of supportive and well-established multi-disciplinary teams of healthcare professionals from a range of backgrounds. You will work with a team of approximately 10 psychology colleagues covering the geographical areas of Peterborough, Huntingdon and Fenland under the leadership of a Consultant Clinical Psychologist.
You will have access to a programme of training in the delivery of Brief Psychological Interventions from senior and experienced psychology colleagues. You will receive professional supervision from either a qualified Clinical Associate Psychologist or Clinical or Counselling Psychologist.
Main duties of the job
To provide a trauma-informed and formulation-driven psychological service to clients within the Adult Locality Teams.
This role includes working directly with clients.
We work closely with other services and are keen to continue to develop psychological interventions with specific client groups to meet the needs of the local population.
This role will also include supporting the work of the psychological workforce and the wider multi-disciplinary teams through activities such as collecting, analysing and presenting data relating to the activity of the psychology workforce, such as demand and capacity and clinical effectiveness.
You will work under the supervision of a qualified Clinical Associate Psychologist or Clinical or Counselling Psychologist and within professional guidelines of conduct and ethics and the overall framework of organisational policies and procedures.
Supporting and developing the psychological workforce is of upmost importance to us. We encourage our Assistant Psychologists to develop their skills and knowledge and seek to prepare them to progress to the next stages of their careers. We believe that research is central to the development and maintenance of effective teams and interventions. We have close links with the University of East Anglia's ClinPsyD programme.

Education / Qualifications
Essential criteria
- An undergraduate degree in Psychology accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS) as conferring Graduate Basis for Chartership (GBC). Or an undergraduate degree in another subject plus a master’s degree or PGDip in Psychology accredited by the BPS as conferring GBC.
Desirable criteria
- Additional relevant qualifications in psychology.
- Additional training in research, audit or psychological therapies.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of applying psychological models to clinical/care settings.
- Experience of collecting, analysing and presenting data.
- Experience of conducting quality improvement, service evaluation, audit or research.
- Experience of using supervision.
Desirable criteria
- Lived experience of mental health challenges.
- Experience of working with people with mental health problems.
- Experience of working within a multicultural context.
- Experience of delivering individual or group psychological interventions informed by the CBT umbrella of therapies.
- Previous experience of working as an Assistant Psychologist and/or Research Assistant.

- Knowledge of legislation in relation to the client group and its implications for clinical and professional practice.
