Children’s Speech & Language Therapist

Band 5

Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity for a newly qualified Speech and Language Therapist or an experienced band 5 Therapist to work with our innovative and supportive team.

Peterborough speech and language therapy service is a small team based in a diverse city that has convenient transport links. As a service we pride ourselves on supervision and support, CPD opportunities and the breadth of caseload experience/therapy we enable our therapists.

We have received positive feedback from our current band 5 Therapists including “The team were incredibly welcoming and supportive, and I gained and continue to gain a diverse range of skills across all aspects of paediatric speech and language therapy” and “I have developed my confidence and knowledge across many areas of speech, language and communication, but also my ability to remain resilient when facing the many pressures in an NHS role”.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for the independent management of a clinical caseload of pre-school and school-aged children in community settings. This may include community clinics, pre-school settings, mainstream and special schools in and around the area of Peterborough. The client group is children who have a range of difficulties in understanding and/or using speech and language.

Working for our organisation

Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust is a health and social care organisation dedicated to providing high-quality care with compassion to improve the health and wellbeing of the people we care for, as well as supporting and empowering them to lead a fulfilling life.

Our clinical teams deliver many NHS services, not only via inpatient and primary care settings, but also within the community. These services include children's, adult and older people's mental health, forensic and specialist mental health, learning disabilities, primary care and liaison psychiatry, substance misuse, social care, research and development.

To achieve our goal, we look to recruit high-calibre candidates who share our vision and values. As an equal opportunities employer, we encourage applications from all sectors of the community, particularly from under-represented groups including people with long term conditions and members of our ethnic minority and LGBTQ+ communities.

Please be advised we reserve the right to close adverts earlier than the closing date should we receive sufficient applications.

Regrettably, we cannot offer sponsorship for all our job roles. If you apply for a role that we cannot offer sponsorship for, unfortunately, your application form will be rejected from the process.
