The Head of Education for Non-Medical (HOE-NM) is responsible for the provision of strong, visible professional leadership across the Trust, who fosters a culture of continuous improvement, compassion and excellence in all aspects of the delivery of patient care.
On behalf of the Deputy Chief Nurse/Chief Nurse, the HoE-NM will work across all the non-medical professions, mainly focusing on the nursing workforce group, however crossing over with Midwifery and AHP workforce leads, with the overarching corporate responsibility for the entire non-medical registered professional groups educational funding and provision.

The role will provide input into the Trust and the regional system and national plans on education provision clearly defining interdependencies to workforce provision and planning, with an aim to address workforce shortfall and build a sustainable future supply.

Education and Qualifications

- • Masters of science level qualification and / or equivalent experience
- • Registered Nurse / midwife/Allied healthcare professional – registration with professional body
- • Management qualification and / or significant management experience
- Teaching qualification/postgraduate education degree/masters

- • Leadership qualification and/or significant leadership experience
- • Prepared to undertake a regional/national fellowship programme
- Undertake a Coaching course or module
Experience

- • Substantial experience of operating in a leadership / senior management role within the NHS
- Evidence of success as a facilitator for effecting change
- Evidence of substantial experience as an educationalist and demonstrating a depth and breadth of NHS workforce and education knowledge
- Evidence of effective and supportive liaison with clinical managers associated with managing capability and performance issues
- Experience of delivery of quality governance and compliance monitoring processes to a range of health care professionals
- Evidence of facilitating clinical leadership development and influencing practice
- Experience of designing and implementing policies and guidelines to influence practice
- Evidence of effective team working at a senior level
- Experience of managing this and working within financial controls
- Ability to think strategically and analyse complex issues and develop appropriate strategies
