Job overview

Are you an enthusiastic and driven ST2-ST4 doctor with a passion for Emergency Medicine, eager to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where your skills can truly make a lasting impact?

We are offering a fantastic opportunity for Resident Doctors to join our forward-thinking and supportive Emergency Department team at North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust, based across two main hospitals: Peterborough City Hospital and Hinchingbrooke Hospital. This full-time, 12-month fixed-term position provides an exciting opportunity to develop your expertise in Urgent and Emergency Care, gain invaluable experience, and make an impact on the lives of patients every day.

You’ll be fully supported by an allocated Educational Supervisor who will help you grow professionally.

This is not just a job—it’s an investment in your future. With opportunities for study leave and funding for life support courses, we support you in reaching your professional goals.

Who We Are Looking For:

  • Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC)
  • At least 6 years of post-registration experience, including 24 months in an Emergency Medicine setting at ST3 level or above
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment

We offer flexible arrangements, with full-time and job-share options available, and will work with you to accommodate personal or professional needs.

Main duties of the job

  • Providing Excellent Care: You'll manage and treat adult and paediatric patients arriving in the ED, from initial assessment to the delivery of care. You’ll perform key procedures like rapid sequence intubation (RSI), procedural sedation, and ultrasound, as well as work with the Same Day Emergency Care service.
  • Collaborating Across Specialties: With our close ties to Acute Physicians, you’ll work alongside experts from other departments, ensuring seamless patient care across the Trust.
  • Engaging in Education & Training: Attend and contribute to weekly teaching sessions, participate in interesting case discussions, and simulation exercises, and help teach medical students and junior doctors.
  • Driving Improvement: You’ll be actively involved in departmental and Trust-wide quality improvement, clinical governance, and audit initiatives, helping us maintain the highest standards of care.

  • Flexible working opportunities;
  • Enhanced hourly rates for unsociable hours e.g. night shifts, weekends, bank holidays;

  • Access to our in-house physiotherapy service;
  • On-site canteens offering subsidised meals;
