Job overview
Video and social media content is a key function of our communications and engagement services at Cardiff and Vale University Health Board, and we currently have an exciting opportunity to appoint a content producer to cover an extended employment break for one year.
We are looking for experienced, creative, forward -thinking and enthusiastic videographers / content producers to assist in the production of engaging content for all our stakeholders.
The successful candidates will work closely with the wider communications and engagement team, identifying opportunities to develop content for social media, communications campaigns and corporate initiatives. The postholder will be able to demonstrate their knowledge and proven skills with new media methods, be confident and capable in filming, scripting and editing footage and add value to our existing communications channels.
The team has a range of camera and videography equipment and access to adobe premier for graphics and video editing. The postholder will be experienced in taking stills images as well as video footage.
The post holder will be based with the Communications and Engagement Team at Woodland House, Maes y Coed Road, Cardiff.
Main duties of the job
- Manage own video production workflow including allocation of tasks, setting targets and priorities to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of the video production work. This may need altering in response to an urgent request.
- Manage own video production work in various hospitals throughout CAVUHB, working independently, following local departmental polices and procedure and adhering to CAVUHB policies
- Analyse, judge and advise on client requests, general department workflows and specialist video production workflows.
- Contribute to the effective day-to-day running of the video production service; assist in the development of good working practices and offer support and guidance to other members of the team.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
This post is fixed term/secondment until 27th January 2026 due to secondment cover. If you are interested in applying for the secondment position, you must obtain permission from your current line manager prior to applying for this post.

- Communicate in a sensitive and empathetic manner with patients that are emotional, distressed or in pain. There may be barriers to communication.
- Lead on video production activities including concept development, script writing, pre- production and post production.
- Discuss video productions with patients and staff to ensure that all consent forms are completed.
- Provide advice and problem solves technical and professional matters both within the department and to service users.
- Responsible for the implementation of administrative and technical quality assurance standards and protocols including routine standardised video production techniques.
- Undertake video production in all areas of CAVUHB including wards, theatres, A&E mortuary etc.
- Undertake video production of patients with medical conditions, communicable diseases, debilitating disorders, major trauma, open wounds and sores etc.
- Ensure all images and data are processed in compliance with the CAVUHB’s consent & confidentiality policies, Caldicott guidelines, the data protection regulation and Human Rights Act.
- Consult and advise patients and customers on services to ensure requests are understood, undertaken and costed correctly.
