Clinical Fellow in Haematology

NHS Medical & Dental: Senior Clinical Fellow

Living Well, Caring Well, Working Together

Job overview

The Haematological Cancer Service at UHW is the largest in Wales and one of the busiest in the UK. It provides a secondary Haematology service to the population of Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan (around 500,000 people) and a regional (tertiary) service to the population of South and West Wales for haematopoietic stem cell transplantation and treatment of acute leukaemia and complex lymphoma. It is the only level 4 Haematology unit in Wales. The clinical service is supported by highly sophisticated diagnostics within the Directorate of Laboratory Medicine.

Main duties of the job

Co-funded by Cardiff & Vale University Health Board and Wales Cancer Research Centre (WCRC), this Clinical Research Fellowship will be focussed on translational research in haematological malignancies and providing clinical cover of clinical trials research activities within Cardiff & Vale UHB Department of Haematology and the Cardiff Cancer Research Partnership (CCRP).

The post holder will be supported to undertake a higher research degree (MD) and the fellowship provides opportunity for the trainee clinician to undertake a dedicated period of research during their training, equipping them with the skills, knowledge and links to become a future cancer research leader.
