Job overview
An opportunity has arisen for a full-time Consultant in Obstetrics & Gynaecology with interest in Fertility and Paediatrics & Adolescent Gynaecology.
Applicants should either be on the Specialist Register or be a Specialist Registrar within six months of their expected date of receipt of a CCT / CESR(CP) at the time of interview.
You will be able to take advantage of the excellent Consultant contract for Wales. The basic salary range for this post is £91,722 per annum to £119,079 per annum plus a further £26,672 per annum available in Commitment Awards. Consultants in Wales paid on one of the first three points of the substantive Consultant pay scale also receive a Wales recruitment incentive payment.
Applicants must ensure they provide names and contact details of referees covering at least the last 3 years of their employment/training history in full. In addition, applicants who are currently or have most recently been employed as a substantive Consultant or as a Locum Consultant in post for more than 12 months must also provide the name of their Medical Director as an additional referee.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will contribute to the Obstetric & Gynaecology workload with an on-call commitment to the emergency gynaecology service. Ideally the successful candidate will significantly contribute to the clinical and research work that is present within the Gynaecology Department.
Cardiff and Vale University Health Board is recognised as a teaching centre of excellence in a wide range of clinical services.
Although this post is full-time, consideration will be given to applicants who require flexible working arrangements.
Academic interests will be encouraged; research and teaching in collaboration with Cardiff University’s School of Medicine will be expected.

Essential criteria
- MRCOG or equivalent
- On Specialist Register for specialty / Specialty Registrar with CCT / CESR(CP) due within six months of interview date
- ATSM in Fertility
- ATSM in Paediatrics & Adolescent Gynaecology
Desirable criteria
- Qualification in ultrasound
- MD thesis in relevant specialty
Experience

- Able to demonstrate ability to work in regional service at a Consultant level
- Evidence of recent participation in Emergency drills
- Competences in Ultrasound scanning
