Job overview

This part time post for 1 day per week provides an exciting opportunity to make a real contribution to the provision of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery services in Cardiff and Vale UHB. This post is for a period of 6 months to cover a period of maternity leave and there is some flexibility on working day.

Applicants should have 12 years postgraduate experience together with a minimum of 6 years within Oral Surgery.  The successful applicant will have effective communication skills and have the ability to make independent clinical decisions when necessary.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will be required to participate in Consultant Clinics, provide MOS treatment sessions (+/- sedation), GA operating, and participate in the supervision of dental undergraduates and postgraduates within the University Dental Hospital.

Desirable criteria
  • Academic Excellence

Experience

Essential criteria
  • 12 years postgraduate dental work
  • Minimum of 6 years within Oral Surgery at Specialty Doctor / SAS grade or equivalent

Audit

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of participation in Clinical audit
  • Understanding role of audit in improving medical practice
  • Understanding of clinical risk management and clinical governance
  • Evidence of engagement with CPD

  • Computing Skills
  • Commitment to participating in and understanding of the management process
  • Satisfactory Immigration status

  • Evidence of management training
