Employer heading
Senior Fellow in Vascular Surgery (Hybrid Fellowship)
NHS Medical & Dental: Senior Clinical Fellow
Living Well, Caring Well, Working Together
Job overview
We are hoping to appoint a fixed term Senior Fellow in Vascular Surgery to support the middle grade tier in this busy South East Wales regional centre. This post will also follow the Wales Hybrid Lower Limb Revascularisation Fellowship training plan (RCS Senior Clinical Fellowship Scheme Approved Post).
The Clinical Fellows and Registrar's work under supervision of the unit consultant surgeons. It is anticipated that time spent working within SEWVN will enable appointees to develop their CVs making them highly appointable in future UK National Recruitment rounds or in Portfolio Application Process for Consultant appointment
Main duties of the job
The appointee will be primarily based in the Major Arterial Centre in UHW and will be part of the middle grade tier of trainee doctors participating in ward, emergency department, outpatient clinics and operating theatre work alongside other middle grade trainees from the Welsh Vascular Surgical Training Programme. All middle grade doctors will be constantly under the supervision of Consultant Surgeons.
All middle grade doctors in the MAC will be required to support operating lists, outpatient clinics and assessment of ward referrals in spoke hospitals throughout the SE Wales region.
The appointee will participate in a 1 in 6 out of hours on call from home rota as the first on call point of contact for vascular emergencies and referrals. The middle grade rota will be supported by a Consultant Vascular Surgeon.
