People & OD Assistant Business Partner

Digital Health and Care Wales is an ambitious organisation created by Welsh Government to lead on the digital transformation of health and care. It builds on the digital architecture and national services put in place by the NHS Wales Informatics Service over the past decade.

The organisation will lead on large-scale developments that make a significant difference to the people of Wales as well as to health and care professionals, such as expansion of the digital patient record and the creation of a National Data Resource. Job overview

We are offering this post as a 12 month fixed term contract to cover maternity leave. We also welcome applications on a secondment basis.

Main duties of the job

As a P&OD Assistant Business Partner, you will play a crucial role in supporting the P&OD Team to influence and drive the strategic People agenda. Working closely with the Senior People Business Partner and POD Business Partner, you will deliver a proactive and professional business partnering service, focusing on workforce planning, resource availability, and line management coaching for complex ER cases within your designated Directorates.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • Support the implementation of the People & OD Strategy, enhancing Directorate performance through effective communication and trust-based relationships with senior managers.
  • Coach and support line managers to improve workforce plans and people management practices.
  • Support workforce planning initiatives, including talent management and succession planning, to support new ways of working.
  • Analyse and present people performance data, identifying trends and advising on necessary actions.
  • Act as a change enabler to facilitate organisational development and manage complex employee relations issues.
  • Champion and embed DHCW’s values and behaviours, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and learning.
  • Deputise for the P&OD Business Partner in meetings, providing insights on people metrics and making recommendations.

Qualifications and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Degree in an associated professional field (or equivalent qualification / experience).
  • Knowledge gained through practical experience of working at this level, across the range of work procedures and practices.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development
Desirable criteria
  • Associate member CIPD.
  • Knowledge of the NHS, other healthcare systems, or the health sector, including regional or national variations

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant experience of working as a people professional
  • Experience of working in partnership with Trade Unions.
  • Up to date knowledge of employment law and good practice in managing employee relations.
Desirable criteria
  • Management experience

  • Ability to prioritise workload.
  • Ability to establish and maintain credibility and trust with managers and staff through knowledge and confidence.
  • Awareness of commitment to diversity
