Job overview
An exciting opportunity has become available within the Dental Postgraduate Section in HEIW for a Dental Educator (Quality Improvement).
Hours: 2 sessions per week (7.5 hours)
Please note that the application will be appointed on either the GP Educator Scale GP01 (Trac ID: 7183756) or Agenda for Change Band 7 (Trac ID: 7186491). Applicants are only required to submit one application depending on contract type.
Working within the quality assurance framework, the role holder will be required to commission, develop and deliver a variety of quality improvement educational initiatives and resources, to support the whole of the dental workforce in Cardiff and Vale University Health Board.

Main duties of the job
· Responsible for the planning, delivery and assessment of the Quality Improvement (QI) initiatives to the dental workforce within Cardiff and Vale University Health Board.
· Provide relevant educational support and advice to dental teams and when requested, Health Boards, and any other relevant stakeholders within Cardiff and Vale University Health Board..
· Work independently and autonomously and demonstrate contemporary knowledge and understanding of both local and national policy, regulations, and guidance in relation to professional development and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for the dental workforce.
· Work with other QI Dental Educators to design and deliver new QI initiatives as required to support the dental profession across Wales

Qualifications & Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Qualified dental professional, registered with the GDC
- Evidence of recent, relevant CPD
- Postgraduate qualification or equivalent specialist professional knowledge in relevant field
Experience
Essential criteria
- Evidence and involvement of adult dental postgraduate education, theory, and practice
- Contemporary knowledge and/or experience in the General Dental Services
- Knowledge of the structure and working of the NHS dental services in Wales, and a broad understanding of the context for the rest of the UK
Desirable criteria
- Experience of dental services in Wales
- Experience of organising educational events
- Experience of involvement in Improvement in Practice
Skills and Attributes
Essential criteria
- Possession of educational skills, particularly presentation, counselling, mentoring, motivational, and negotiation
- Able to demonstrate situations where effective leadership and management skills have been used
- Computer literate with a knowledge of modern educational technology that is used to support learning
- Ability to network effectively, and build relationships with both internal and external stakeholders

- Ability to travel within geographical area
- Able to work hours flexibly
