We are seeking to recruit a lawyer in the field of employment law to join our growing team. 

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

The Employment Team at Legal and Risk Services, the in house solicitors for NHS Wales based in Cardiff, require a full time solicitor, barrister or legal executive. The post holder will undertake the case management of a range of employment law matters from the initial advice request, to the issue of the ET claim to settlement or trial under appropriate supervision and subject to experience.

Experience of Respondent litigation is preferred but candidates with good knowledge and experience of employment matters will be considered.

The ideal candidate for the above positions must have good communication skills, a confident approach to work, the ability to prioritise and be able to work well with the team and clients. Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate our core values:

Qualifications and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Law Degree & Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice (or equivalent)
  • Registration with relevant professional body (e.g. SRA/CILEX/BAR)
  • Relevant legal knowledge
Desirable criteria
  • Higher degree
  • Structure of the NHS/NHS Background

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience gained through training within Employment Law.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of making presentations to non-legal staff
  • Advocacy in the Employment Tribunal
  • NHS or public sector background
  • Experience of drafting documents and advice to clients.

  • IT Skills/Computer literate to include the ability to learn new technologies and IT introduced.
  • Ability to communicate in all formats, in plain English.
