Job overview

The Bank Nursing Receptionist/Administrator role is to work as a member of the nursing administration team with a focus on inpatient and day care services.
The post holder will carry out reception, clerical and any relevant nonclinical duties which assist the nursing, medical staff and patients. 
The post holder will need to be extremely flexible in this temporary bank role, as the role will involve covering different ward reception areas along with chemotherapy administration duties when there are staff shortages. 
The post will also involve coordinating emergency bed management and 
carrying out administration duties.
By the nature of the duties, the post holder will be required to maintain strict confidentiality and will be expected to deal with staff, patients, carers and relatives with courtesy and discretion at all times.

Main duties of the job

  • To act as first point of contact for patients and relatives entering the ward.
  • To provide reception and clerical support. The post holder will be required to cover administration staff in the absence of other staff.
  • To be responsible for the accurate and timely filing of documents into the Medical Records when required.
  • To comply with all aspects of confidentiality including the Data Protection Act and the Freedom of Information Act.
  •  To accurately input data on the Trust computer system for which full training will be given.
  • Locate and retrieve case-notes on patients pending admission, ensuring that they are correctly tracked to the ward.
  • To provide assistance with general telephone enquiries and face to face calls

An exciting opportunity has arisen for enthusiastic and motivated administrators to join our friendly Nursing Administration team in the Integrated Care Directorate at Velindre Cancer Centre on a part-time basis.

The Nursing Administrator role is to work as a member of the nursing administration team with a focus on inpatient and day care services. The post holder will carry out reception, clerical and any relevant non-clinical duties which assist the nursing, medical staff and patients.

We are therefore, seeking a skilled, reliable and highly organised individual with excellent communication and organisation skills. The post holder requires experience of Microsoft Office packages – World, Excel and PowerPoint; excellent organisational abilities and the capability to work in a confidential manner are of paramount importance in this role. The ability to communicate effectively as part of a team; to work well under pressure and to prioritise the demands in a busy environment are also essential.  

The post holder will need to be extremely flexible as the role will involve covering different ward reception areas along with chemotherapy administration duties as and when required.  The role will involve the postholder working days, evenings, weekends and bank holidays (on a rota basis).
