Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our friendly Therapies Team here at Velindre Cancer Centre, on a full-time basis (37.5 hours per week).

The successful candidate will work within the Dietetic service to deliver high quality care to their patient population. The work will involve working directly with cancer patients across inpatient, outpatient, ambulatory care, and radiotherapy services within the cancer centre. Alongside their clinical duties, the successful candidate will undertake service development, best practice projects and audit with appropriate preceptorship supervision. 

Main duties of the job

The job role will involve working within the Dietetic Team, supported by the Professional lead for nutrition and dietetics. The post holder will work with nursing and other Allied Health Professional colleagues in well-developed multi-disciplinary teams.

The role will include seeing patients who require dietetic input to optimize their nutritional status through oral and enteral feeding, as well as managing their treatment side effects.

The post holder will be a qualified Dietitian, registered with the HCPC and have a passion for working with and supporting patients with a diagnosis of cancer. The post holder will have an understanding of the challenges experienced by patients undergoing treatments for cancer. It is desirable to have experience of working within oncology. We are also looking for a good team player and an ability to manage a busy caseload, delivering on both clinical and non-clinical responsibilities. A high standard of personal organisation and time management are essential. You will be able to demonstrate core communication skills with the ability to develop into advanced communication skills and have experience of MDT working.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
