As the post holder you will be an integral part of the Directorate Triumvirate, working in partnership with the General Manager and Clinical Director at Velinde Cancer Services, progressing into the new Velindre Cancer Centre (nVCC) in Cardiff.  When complete, the new Velindre Cancer Centre will be a world class facility which provides specialist tertiary oncology services to patients across Southeast Wales.

You will possess exceptional operational expertise to deliver and evaluate progress in achieving the Trust’s vision in achieving excellence in healthcare. Providing visible, clinical, professional and compassionate leadership, for nursing across the directorate.

As post holder you will possess relevant professional qualifications plus additional specialist management knowledge, acquired through training and experience.

Main duties of the job

·      You will be professionally accountable for the delivery of high quality, safe and effective care for services within the sphere of responsibility.

        The post holder will actively develop a culture of quality, improvement and productivity to improve patient/client care and services by analysis of complex data and information (such as PREMS, PROMS, DATIX), developing and implementing solutions to enhance quality and meet performance targets in line with the Trusts Quality and Patient Safety Governance Framework.

       You will promote and role model the Trusts values, leadership expectations and behaviours, endorsing the principle of the Values and Behaviours. The individual will be an advocate for diversity and equal opportunities in all business and services provided by the Trust.

        You will lead on identifying and cascading appropriate challenging goals and objectives ensuring that the vision, values and strategic themes of the Trust are translated into clear goals and objectives in business and workforce plans and PDRs.

       The individual will lead a culture of ensuring patient/client safety through adherence to legal obligations and safety requirements by reviewing and challenging risks and progress on plans to reduce risk.

Qualifications / Knowldege

Essential criteria
  • Educated to Masters Level or equivalent qualification, knowledge and/or experience supplemented by highly specialist qualification
  • Professional NMC registration applicable to area of practice.
  • Evidence of Continuous Professional Development.
  • Highly relevant specialist clinical knowledge relating to sphere of responsibilities.
  • Clear understanding of the concept and working arrangements of diverse clinical areas
  • Detailed understanding of the provision of health services.
  • High level knowledge of all current issues related to professional nursing practice
  • Has a good understanding of research and can demonstrate how research has influenced their practice.

Experince

  • Significant post registration experience at a very senior nursing level.
  • Highly specialised and in-depth professional knowledge and experience from a range of nursing/midwifery disciplines across the services of the UHB.
