Job overview

We have an exciting opportunity to join Velindre UNHS Trust Business Intelligence Team as a Senior BI Developer. The role will be part of the Business Intelligence team, supporting the Trust in getting value from wide range of data sources.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will also work with clinical and non-clinical teams to provide insights that underpin the VBHC programme and ensure we have the right data, at the right time, delivered in the right manner to enable the right decision.

The develop and troubleshoot ETL processes within SSIS, supporting the principal data engineer in development of new data structures, troubleshooting database issues and query optimisation.  The role will also support the existing analysis services cube and assist with future development of it.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Degree in a relevant topic area (e.g. computing, informatics, mathematics) or equivalent experience
  • Evidence of further development and or education and training
Desirable criteria
  • Service improvement qualification

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Specialist knowledge of information requirements and standards within a healthcare environment, this will include a general understanding of clinical and non-clinical information
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in extracting data from NHS systems such as WPAS, Chemocare and Aria

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrable experience within an information environment
  • A good applied understanding of clinical and non-clinical informatics processes.

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Advanced IT and analytical and statistical skills with knowledge of IT tools such as, SQL, data cubes and web development tools and languages.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience of Data Warehousing, relational Databases, information systems and data transfer packages in particular SQL Server Integrated Services (SSIS)
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of developing dashboards using e.g. QlikView, Power BI
