Job overview
This role provides an exciting opportunity to join the Health and Safety team as a Fire Safety Advisor. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical advice on a range of fire related issues and projects, and will advise and support the Senior Fire Safety Advisor in delivering the UHB service strategy for Fire.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be expected to work closely with the Clinical Service Boards and Capital Estates and Facility teams, ensuring that they remain fully supported by your Fire Safety expertise. You will be required to correctly advise on all aspects of fire related risks and ensure that adequate management processes are in place for effective fire safety precautions.
You will undertaking fire safety risk assessments for your areas of responsibility and provide regular reports/submissions to senior management on fire related issues.
You will be based at at one of the main hospital sites within Cardiff and Vale University Health Board.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Qualified to degree level or Equivalent fire safety experience
Desirable criteria
- Membership of a Professional Institution such as the following: IFE, IEE, IET, I.MechE, CIBSE, IHEEM, CIOB, RICS,RIBA.
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Demonstrate the ability to undertake detailed, suitable and sufficient fire risk assessments.
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of detailed knowledge and understanding of the entire suite of HTM’s, Building Regulations Documentation and other related estate and engineering best practice guidance documents.
Applicant requirements
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
