Velindre University NHS Trust is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Project Manager to lead the coordination and delivery of key components of our Value Based Healthcare (VBHC) programme. This is a pivotal role that will help shape the future of healthcare delivery across the Trust and across Wales.

Main duties of the job

 

As Senior Project Manager, you will: 

  • Lead and manage a portfolio of complex projects that support the delivery of VBHC across the Trust. 

  • Drive the development and governance of the Value Intelligence Centre, ensuring transparency, benefit tracking, and the sharing of best practice. 

  • Collaborate with clinical, digital, and operational teams to implement innovative, data-driven solutions that improve patient outcomes and optimise resource use. 

  • Champion VBHC principles and support the education and engagement of colleagues across the organisation.

We’re looking for someone who is: 

  • Educated to Master’s level or equivalent, with a recognised project management qualification (e.g. PRINCE2). 

  • Experienced in leading complex change programmes, ideally within a healthcare setting. 

  • Skilled in stakeholder engagement, risk management, and benefits realisation. 

  • A confident communicator with excellent facilitation, analytical, and problem-solving skills. 

  • Passionate about continuous improvement and committed to delivering meaningful change. 

Person specification

Qualifications and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Educated to masters level or equivalent level of knowledge gained through experience.
  • Project Management Practitioner Qualification (e.g. PRINCE2) or equivalent experience
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Knowledge of Value Based Healthcare and how it is applied
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of PROMs and licensing requirements
  • Working knowledge of the NHS and national developments and policy initiatives
  • Understanding and knowledge of health service terminology and information requirements

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience in managing change successfully
  • Experience of project managing a portfolio of projects ranging in complexity
  • Experience of evaluating the quality of project outputs against agreed acceptance criteria
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of working within health and in partnership with local authorities and third sector organisations at both operational and strategic levels
  • Experience of working with the public/patients/service users
  • Experience of implementing Value Based Healthcare projects that involves implementation of PROMS

Skills and Attributes

Essential criteria
  • Highly organised, with the ability to work to agreed goals, in a self-directed manner
  • Able to utilise Office 365 software packages to an intermediate or higher level
  • Ability to problem solve including critical questioning and innovative thinking
Desirable criteria
  • Welsh Speaker (Level 1) or willingness to work towards
