An exciting opportunity has arisen for the post of Consultant Midwife within the Wales Maternity and Neonatal Network.

This key leadership post will support the delivery of the network programme of work, which is designed to improve outcomes of pregnancy.

The post holder will have a significant level of experience as an expert consultant midwife on the practicing register, with evidence of excellent leadership skills, inspiring others to improve standards and consistency of care for women across Wales.

The post is advertised as a 1 year secondment with NHS Wales Performance and Improvement.

The post holder will be required to travel to fulfil the requirements of the role.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post, English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be an experienced senior midwife with proven leadership skills and evidence of collaborative working. They will work in partnership with the Network Clinical and Midwifery Leads and other network colleagues in the development and implementation of the work programme in line with identified priorities.

They will provide leadership and support for distinct programmes / projects, as well as providing expert midwifery advice to other network work streams and aspects of Network business.

They will be a champion for Maternity services, acting as an advisory point of contact for stakeholders and provide support and clinical guidance to the Maternity and Neonatal Network senior team to ensure standards of Maternity service provision continue to improve across Wales.
