Job overview

An exciting operational management opportunity has arisen for an  experienced and highly motivated individual to lead the Soft FM function at Bronglais General Hospital and community sites within Ceredigion.  

We are looking for an enthusiastic, proactive, and experienced operational manager to be responsible for the delivery and management of Soft FM services across the Ceredigion locality of the  Hywel Dda University Health Board.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will be responsible for planning, ensuring and maintaining  the delivery of high quality, cost effective Soft FM Operational Services throughout the locality, to include cleaning at ward and department levels, housekeeping, ward based nutrition and hydration services, portering services, patient movement, security of internal and external areas, administration, residential accommodation and child daycare facilities. 

The successful post holder would be required to lead on the execution of current national standards and legislation relevant to the management of Soft FM  including Cleaning Standards, Food Hygiene and Health and Safety legislation and relevant infection prevention and control guidelines.

48 General Practices (GP surgeries), 49 Dental Practices, 98 Community Pharmacies (chemists), 44 General Ophthalmic Practices (including eye health and low vision services), 38 sites providing mental health and learning disability services, care within your own homes

Highly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee, a joint committee representing seven health boards across Wales.

Person specification

Qualifications and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Educated to degree level in a relevant subject or equivalent level of experience of working at a similar level in a specialist area
  • Evidence workforce development knowledge and experience, through robust IPR and enforcement of Health Board policies.
  • Demonstrate sound knowledge of current legislation in all areas of soft FM practice, waste management, cleaning standards, infection control, environmental management, food hygiene and safety, etc
  • Good understanding of a range of IT systems and spreadsheets
Desirable criteria
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of the Health and Social Care environment and the roles and responsibilities within it

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Further training or significant experience in project management, financial management or supporting change management processes to postgraduate diploma level
  • Experience and understanding of evaluating and measuring the performance of health care services, throughout the soft FM range
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience in a similar role in the public sector
  • Experience in communication and stakeholder management, with external agencies such as CHC, HIW WRP etc.

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
