An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and experienced individual to join the Administration Team at the Central Transport Unit as a Transport Analyst

This newly established position offers a chance to become part of a growing team within the Central Operations Directorate. We are looking to recruit a dynamic individual, who possesses the enthusiasm and determination to identify and execute changes while contributing to the Health Board's decarbonisation initiatives.

Main duties of the job

The Transport Analyst will provide technical and analytical support to effectively manage the Health Board's vehicle fleet, focusing on data development, analysis and presentation. This will include assisting the Transport and Sustainable Travel Manager and Transport Co-ordinator in identifying cost-effective and operationally suitable vehicle options, that meet departmental needs, through the development of robust financial planning and fleet modelling systems.

As a Transport Analyst, you will ensure that  departments are equipped with appropriate fit-for-purpose vehicles and support them in managing their fleets, including co-ordinating regular health and safety maintenance checks. By conducting market research, you will ensure that the best vehicles are available through approved fleet providers and analyse fleet data to support the selection, delivery, digital tracking, maintenance and overall optimisation of vehicle use. 

Other duties will include maintaining up-to-date databases to monitor essential maintenance requirements, such as services and MOTs and liaising with external contractors to ensure smooth and efficient fleet operations. 

The Transport Analyst will also ensure that all data is validated, accurate and clearly presented through regular reports and presentations to the Transport and Sustainable Travel Manager.

Highly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee, a joint committee representing seven health boards across Wales.

Qualifications and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Diploma in appropriate subject e.g. data analytics, transport and logistics, or equivalent experience
  • Work related experience undertaking analysis of data in the provision of support to managers.
  • Excellent working knowledge of windows packages including Word and Excel
Desirable criteria
  • Degree in appropriate subject (or equivalent experience).
  • Knowledge of transport legislation / regulations.
  • A working knowledge and experience of using pivot tables.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Work related experience undertaking analysis of data in the provision of support to managers.
  • Ability to immediately use information systems.
  • Experience of working with national fleet providers.
Desirable criteria
  • Previous NHS experience.
  • Experience of working in a transport role / department.
  • Previous office administration experience.

Language Skills

Desirable criteria
  • Welsh Speaker (Level 1)

  • Ability to travel between sites in a timely manner
  • Flexible approach to needs of the service
