This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and supportive transformational team in the NHS as a Senior Project Manager in West Wales.

We are looking for people who wish to pursue a career in Projects, understand the challenges of delivering something new and want to use their skills to support and enable the delivery of service transformation. We are looking for a motivated, organised, enthusiastic and proactive individuals to lead and deliver digital transformation projects across our organisation.

A hybrid working model is required, where the post holder would work remotely and attend a site on a weekly/monthly basis.

Main duties of the job

The post is within the Digital Services directorate and provide an ideal platform to learn and develop within the NHS and the digital field. 

Applications are invited for the post of a Senior Project Manager to join the Digital Innovation & Transformation Team within Hywel Dda to play a pivotal role in the delivery of a key strategic digital projects within the Health Community. 

The post holder will be responsible for managing and controlling the delivery of complex digital projects which form part of Digital Response strategic aims and are key to the successful implementation of the Health Board's Strategy.

We are keen to recruit experienced project managers who are passionate about what they do and what to make a difference for patients and our communities.  Whilst some knowledge of working within a digital environment is useful it is not essential.  We are looking for someone who can work successfully as part of a team but take initiative and lead when appropriate.

The applicant should hold a project management qualification such as APMP or PRINCE2 and have experience of managing multiple projects within a programme or portfolio. They will have excellent communication, organisation and interpersonal skills and able to use those skills to engage with internal and external stakeholders, organise events or workshops and to ensure initiation and delivery of multiple projects successfully.

Hywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and its bordering counties. Our 12,000 members of staff provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services to almost 400,000 people across a quarter of the landmass of Wales. We do this in partnership with our three local authorities and public, private and third sector colleagues, including our volunteers, through:

Highly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee, a joint committee representing seven health boards across Wales.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The post holder will be part of a dynamic team working closely with all other teams within Digital Services to manage the implementation of digital solutions.  In this role you will be building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders across our organisation, managing key projects from inception to conclusion. You will be the lead resource in the delivery of strategic digital projects within the Digital Innovation & Transformation team.

Person specification

Qualifications and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience.
  • APMP / Prince 2 practitioner equivalent or appropriate project management experience at an equivalent level
  • Postgraduate diploma level qualification or experience at an equivalent level
  • An appreciation of needs of clinicians in the workplace.
  • In-depth knowledge of organisational structures, management reporting lines and appropriate routes for delegation of project work packages
  • An understanding of the area served by the Health Board and its social and economic character.
  • Evidence of further development – education/training
Desirable criteria
  • MSP (managing successful programmes) practitioner

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience at clinical, technical (e.g. Informatics) or managerial level
  • Proven record of formal medium scale project management.
  • Proven track record of being able to co-ordinate multi-level/multidisciplinary teams
  • Knowledge of budgeting and resource allocation procedures.
  • Experience of working in health care
  • Knowledge of the procurement process, including contract negotiations particularly in relation to IT procurement
