Main duties of the job
As a member of the Future Workforce team, you will be part of a dynamic team playing a crucial and exciting role in shaping the future workforce of Hywel Dda University Health Board. Your passion for helping others will play a key role in delivering the Future Workforce functions across the three counties served by Hywel Dda University Health board.
This role offers the opportunities to collaborate with schools, colleges, universities and various stakeholders to inspire and highlight pathways for individuals, moving into NHS careers. This collaboration is focused on overcoming potential barriers to the perceptions of careers and opportunities within the NHS. You will create engaging programmes that highlight the health board as an employer of choice, opening doors to exciting career opportunities. Working with professionals from across the Health Board to showcase the different careers and opportunities on offer, including through volunteering, work experience and apprenticeships.
A flexible approach and ability to work autonomously will be essential to supporting the successful delivery of the Future Workforce function.
Working for our organisation
Hywel Dda University Health Board plans and provides NHS healthcare services for people living in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire, and bordering counties.
We have over 13,000 staff and together we provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services.
We work in partnership with the three local authorities, as well as public, private and third sector colleagues, including our valued team of volunteers.
Our services are provided in:
- Four main hospitals: Bronglais Hospital in Aberystwyth; Glangwili Hospital in Carmarthen; Prince Philip Hospital in Llanelli; and Withybush Hospital in Haverfordwest
- Five community hospitals: Amman Valley and Llandovery hospitals in Carmarthenshire; Tregaron Hospital in Ceredigion; and Tenby and South Pembrokeshire hospitals in Pembrokeshire
- Two integrated care centres: Aberaeron and Cardigan in Ceredigion, and several other community settings
- 47 general practices (six of which are health board managed practices); dental practices (including four orthodontic); 97 community pharmacies; 43 general ophthalmic practices; and 8 ophthalmic domiciliary providers
- Numerous mental health and learning disabilities services

Qualifications and Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Educated to degree level or equivalent experience, which could consist of writing reports to seniors or managing substantial projects.
- Good standard of English and Maths.
- Ability to present/speak to groups of various audiences of different ages, abilities and within various settings
- Ability to deliver in the Welsh language
- Teaching/ facilitator experience
Desirable criteria
- Relevant experience in engaging with people of different age and social groups.
- PGCE/ Teaching qualification or equivalent
Experience
Essential criteria
- Proven experience of working in a team.
- Networking and working across organisational boundaries.
- Experience of offering pastoral care to others.
- Previous experience of engaging within sector/educational establishments.
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working with /or managing volunteers and Work Experience
- Proven experience of NHS/Public and Voluntary Sector.
