The Organisation Development (OD) Department plays a prominent role in supporting and enabling the delivery of the Workforce, Organisational Development and Education Strategy 2020-2030. The strategy is aligned to Hywel Dda University Health Board’s (HDUHB) Health and Care Strategy, ‘A Healthier Mid and West Wales’ and outlines the future vision for our workforce over the next 10 years.

Main duties of the job

Working for our organisation

Hywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and its bordering counties. Our 11,000 members of staff provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services for around 384,000 people across a quarter of the landmass of Wales. We do this in partnership with our three local authorities and public, private and third sector colleagues, including our volunteers, through:

Four main hospitals: Bronglais General in Aberystwyth, Glangwili General in Carmarthen, Prince Philip in Llanelli and Withybush General in Haverfordwest;

Seven community hospitals: Amman Valley and Llandovery in Carmarthenshire; Tregaron, Aberaeron and Cardigan in Ceredigion; and Tenby and South Pembrokeshire Hospital Health and Social Care Resource Centre in Pembrokeshire;

48 general practices (four of which are managed practices), 47 dental practices (including three orthodontic), 99 community pharmacies, 44 general ophthalmic practices (43 providing Eye Health Examination Wales and 34 low vision services) and 17 domiciliary only providers and 11 health centres;

Numerous locations providing mental health and learning disabilities services;

Highly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee, a joint committee representing seven health boards across Wales.

Qualifications and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Educated to Degree level in a relevant subject or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of programme management process and project management
  • Understanding of Organisational Development Activities.
  • Excellent IT literacy with a comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft 365, packages including Power Automate, Forms, Power BI, Sharepoint, Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook & Teams.
Desirable criteria
  • OD or LD qualification or demonstrate equivalence
  • Accreditation for tools/psychometrics (e.g. 360 feedback, action learning facilitation, MBTI).
  • Evidence of CPD

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Extensive previous experience of working in a busy, complex environment with sensitive and confidential information
  • Experience of delivering training/presentations or facilitating group discussions.
  • Experience and ability of collating, analysing, evaluating and presenting data from a range of sources.
  • Experience of report writing, data analysis and presentation of information in various formats with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Experience of producing, updating and managing databases
  • Experience of engagement and collaborative working with multiple stakeholders.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of designing training or interventions (e.g. programmes, workshops).
  • Experience of website management.
  • Experience of working in an OD/L&D environment.
  • Understanding of a range of analytical techniques, software and tools for data manipulation; modelling; and interpretation.
