Job overview

As part of our on-going commitment to the delivery of high quality, reliable services for our patients, an exciting opportunity has arisen in the Scheduled Care Directorate within Hywel Dda University Health Board working in the Ophthalmology Department.

Main duties of the job

As an Ophthalmology Coordinator, you will support a high quality standard analysis service to the Ophthalmology Management team ensuring they have the information that they require to deliver the highest quality and most appropriate services to our patients.

The post holder will be responsible for the management and support maintaining records, entering accurate data into the WPAS computerised system whilst demonstrating the ability to handle patient information, i.e. responsible for the administration and validation of clinical pathways, this will be carried out by liaising with clinicians regarding investigations and results in a sensitive and confidential manner.

The post will maintain effective relationships with stakeholders using these to ensure the role supports the validation process within the waiting list function. You will be expected to work closely with the Service Management Team.

Qualifications and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Level 4 qualification in Administration or Customer Care or acquired equivalent experience
  • GCSE or equivalent in English and Maths, grades A-C
  • High standard of IT knowledge and evidence of working with systems, databases and spreadsheets
  • Experience of working in an administrative post
  • Knowledge of Myrddin
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge and experience of working with HB information systems
  • Degree Educated
  • Expert Knowledge of Myrddin

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working in the NHS – Primary and Acute Service
  • Experience of using full range of IT systems and patient data systems
  • Experience of using Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel
