Applications are invited from enthusiastic, innovative, motivated and suitably qualified individuals for the role of a fixed term (9 months) part time (18.75 hours) Band 4, Medical Secretary within the Paediatric Department based at Glangwili General Hospital .
The successful candidate will undertake a wide-range of duties including receipt and distribution of mail, audio transcription and the typing of highly sensitive letters and reports, maintaining confidentiality at all times, in addition to operation of the Health Board’s patient database system.
You will be expected to demonstrate excellent organisational skills and be flexible and adaptable in your approach to work. You must be able to work on your own initiative, use tact and diplomacy where appropriate and possess excellent communication skills.
Experience of a range of IT systems / packages coupled with proven secretarial skills and previous experience is essential. Applicants will need to demonstrate that they have experience within a Medical Secretary / Administrative role. Experience of Data Entry using Excel Spreadsheets would also be advantageous.
An understanding of confidentiality is essential. Experience of working within the NHS as well as knowledge of Health Board Systems is desirable, but an enthusiastic attitude and willingness to learn is also very important. The applicants would ideally possess RSA/OCR III or have equivalent demonstrable experience of working as a Medical Secretary, or in an a busy administrative / office environment with a good understanding of medical terminology.
The successful candidate will be required to provide administrative support for the delivery of a quality comprehensive service to the Consultants. The role may involve periodically travelling to and working across other sites within the Directorate in support of service delivery.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and /or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
