Job overview
Hywel Dda University Health Board is looking for a Recovery Practitioners to join the Theatre department in Glangwili General Hospital based in Carmarthen.
Elective and emergency surgery is performed in our department 24/7, with an opportunity to work weekends along with weekdays.
We have a Theatre Education Facilitator within our department and offer a structured induction package and continued professional development is available to all staff.
Main duties of the job
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our highly skilled workforce in the Recovery unit of the Main Operating Theatres at Glangwili General Hospital. The successful candidate will join a motivated team of multi-disciplinary professionals delivering high quality, evidence-based care to our patients.
This vacancy is suitable for Registered Nurses/Operating Department Practitioners. We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic candidate with the ability to work well within a challenging environment, and who can deliver high quality patient care. Willingness to work as part of an on-call, 24/7 rota will be required for this post.
A structured induction programme will be provided for all new members of staff, plus access to on-going continuing professional education and development.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications and Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Current Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) OR Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registration
- Registered General Nurse OR Registered Operating Departmental Practitioner
- Commitment to undertake an appropriate course of study
- To have a knowledge and understanding of all surgical specialities within the operating department
- Evidence of continuing professional development
Desirable criteria
- Diploma in theatre perioperative practice
Experience
Essential criteria
- Evidence of experience use of equipment and materials
Desirable criteria
- Post registration experience
- Relevant experience in all specialities General / orthopaedic / gynae / urology / Trauma
- Experience in the supervision / teaching of students, support staff and others
Language Skills

- Welsh Speaker (Level 1)
