Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and experienced registered nurse to provide clinical nursing leadership within the Waiting List Support Service (WLSS) within Hywel Dda University Health Board.
The service objective is to provide advice and support to patients awaiting planned care in order to promote healthy lifestyle choices, prevent deterioration and deconditioning and help patients to prepare for treatment and recovery in line with the Welsh Government’s Promote, Prevent, Prepare policy for Planned Care.
As clinical lead nurse within the multidisciplinary service the successful candidate will be responsible for the clinical oversight and governance of the service and have line management and professional responsibility for the registered nurses within the service. The post holder will work closely with all relevant stakeholders to actively review, develop and evaluate service delivery and new ways of working.
The successful candidate will have significant clinical experience working within a multidisciplinary team across different clinical specialties/ conditions within an integrated care system.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job
Provide expert advice and clinical guidance based on evidence based practice.
Work autonomously and manage own workload as a lead clinician within the defined area.
Provide appropriate supervision education and training to Staff within defined area.
Lead and manage a team of individuals within defined area.
Work collaboratively and co-operatively with colleagues to support the development of services within the designated area. This will include leading in quality improvement, audit and service evaluation.
Lead the development, planning, implementation and evaluation of services within the defined area.

Hywel Dda University Health Board plans and provides NHS healthcare services for people living in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire, and bordering counties.
We have over 13,000 staff and together we provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services.
We work in partnership with the three local authorities, as well as public, private and third sector colleagues, including our valued team of volunteers.

- Four main hospitals: Bronglais Hospital in Aberystwyth; Glangwili Hospital in Carmarthen; Prince Philip Hospital in Llanelli; and Withybush Hospital in Haverfordwest
- Five community hospitals: Amman Valley and Llandovery hospitals in Carmarthenshire; Tregaron Hospital in Ceredigion; and Tenby and South Pembrokeshire hospitals in Pembrokeshire
- Two integrated care centres: Aberaeron and Cardigan in Ceredigion, and several other community settings
- 47 general practices (six of which are health board managed practices); dental practices (including four orthodontic); 97 community pharmacies; 43 general ophthalmic practices; and 8 ophthalmic domiciliary providers

Qualifications and Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse (Part 1)
- Current NMC Registration
- Masters Degree or equivalent experience in clinical practice
- Bronze IQT
- Expert level of clinical knowledge
- Knowledge of service improvement
- Able to undertake a literature search and critically appraise research papers
Desirable criteria
- Teaching qualification (or equivalent experience)
- Management qualification (or equivalent experience)
- Advanced clinical knowledge
Experience
Essential criteria
- Relevant experience at Band 6
- Evidence of leadership skills
- Experience of working in a multiprofessional environment
- Proven post registration experience and evidence of coordinating and managing a team of staff
- Experience of working with preregistration nursing/midwifery students in a mentorship role
- Experience of critical appraisal and undertaking audit
- Good knowledge of information governance/data protection requirements
- Experience of using reflective learning to support the development of self and staff
