Applications are invited for the post of a Carpenter within the site based Estates Operational Maintenance team.
To provide a safe, comfortable environment for patients, staff and visitors.
Ensuring all essential services are maintained to support clinical departments in their prime task of treating patients whilst ensuring all statutory legislation is complied with.
Ensure maintenance tasks are fulfilled. Responsible for fault finding and repairing a wide range of building elements and undertaking certain elements of multi-skilling:
a) Fire doors
b) Locks and security
c) Roofing
d) Leaks
e) Minor developments
f) Windows
g) Other associated building skills. Mark out accurately and construct from drawing & plans
h) Knowledge of current building regulations
Main duties of the job
The Carpenter will be part of a maintenance team ensuring that the building environment is kept to its optimum condition, and that services are maintained to an appropriate standard to support clinical service departments in their prime task of treating patients. The Carpenter will also be expected to work to Health Board standards supporting the C4C audits.
The appointed individual will support the site operational management staff with the day-to-day operational engineering and building maintenance which will include engineering services, buildings, grounds and gardens etc. The position requires degree of flexibility depending on the needs of the service.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
The post-holder will be an integral part of a strong site-based locality.

Hywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and its bordering counties. Highly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee, a joint committee representing seven health boards across Wales.
