Job overview

THIS POST IS FIXED TERM FOR 12 MONTHS TO 31/8/2026 DUE TO SECONDMENT COVER.

Due to career progression within the department, we are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic individual with an interest in healthcare science to support our Pharmacy team in the day to day running of the Pharmacy Department at Withybush General Hospital.

The Pharmacy team is forward thinking and continually strives to improve the delivery of patient focused pharmaceutical care and optimise the use of medicines within the Health Board.

This is a full time post, 37.5 hours  per week.  Part time hours will be considered. You must have excellent organisational and communication skills and you will need to be able to work effectively with the existing team within the pharmacy department.

 

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will work within a team of Senior Technical Officers, Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacists in providing a wide range of Pharmaceutical Services within the hospital setting.  You will be given specific training to help develop your skills.

Applicants must hold 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) Grade C or above. To hold a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 2 in Pharmacy services or equivalent is desirable but not essential, as full support and supervision will be provided to complete the NVQ Level 2 qualification in Pharmacy services.

The post holder will perform a variety of tasks, including manual handling to support the pharmacy teams within the Health Board.

Roles may include working in the following areas: Distribution, Procurement, Dispensary, and Ward Based Services.

The successful candidate will be involved in working on a weekend  and Bank Holiday Rota.

Highly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee, a joint committee representing seven health boards across Wales.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The post holder will perform a variety of tasks, including the moving and handling of loads between the department and other areas of the hospital to support the pharmacy teams within the Health Board. Manual handling training is provided as mandatory to the successful applicant as part of the induction programme.
