Job overview
Hywel Dda University Health Board's Digital Services department has embarked on an exciting investment to refresh its onsite Data Centre Infrastructure and is progressing with building services in the Cloud. We require an Infrastructure Engineer (Data Centre) to work with us to provide the daily support of our Data Centre infrastructure and to support the implementations of new systems and technologies.
The successful candidate will be required to work as part of the Data Centre Team, occasionally taking the lead and working with the other teams in Digital Services to provide daily operational support to the Health Board and work on a range of projects. The role currently involves a lot of onsite support and some remote support.
The successful candidate will be required to participate in the Health Board's on-call rota providing 24/7 support.

Main duties of the job
As a specialist in Data Centre infrastructure, you will be working as a key part of the Data Centre.
As part of the Operations team, the post holder will be responsible for investigating complex Digital Service issues across the Health Board, providing an effective second and third line support function on the infrastructure including:
Systems & Services (File & Print, E-mail, SQL Databases, Active Directory, Application Servers, Monitoring services, Backup, Recovery and supporting Data Centre infrastructure services).
Storage Services (SAN’s, NAS and DAS).
Virtualisation Services (AVH / VMWARE / Hyper-V / XenServer).
Security Services for the Data Centre environments ensuring systems and their environments are maintained to required Health Board Cyber requirements such as Cyber Essentials Plus.
Data Centre refers to On-Premise Data Centres (traditional) and various Cloud offerings such as Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), Containers as a Service (Caas).
The successful candidate will be required to participate in the Health Board's on-call rota providing 24x7x365 support.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Essential criteria
- Degree in IT related discipline or equivalent IT certification and specialist training
- Evidence of additional continual professional development
- ITIL Foundation Certificate
- Good understanding of networking best practice and standards
Desirable criteria
- Professional qualification in network such as a CCNA

- Welsh Speaker (Level 1)
Experience

- Extensive experience supporting a highly complex Digital environment.
- Experience of working with range of networking technologies including: - Cisco LAN’s - WAN’s - Firewall and other network security products - Wireless Networking - Network Monitoring Tools - Network Troubleshooting Tools
- Practical approach to problem solving.
- Able to assimilate new technologies easily
