Job overview
The Catering Department at Prince Philip Hospital is currently looking to recruit a Catering Assistant who would like to join a large team of individuals within the department in providing an effective and efficient cleaning and catering service. The successful candidate will play an integral role within the team in ensuring that the food is prepared, delivered and the department is cleaned to the highest standard.
The contract available is 1 x 30 hour post. This contract is to work 4 days a week Monday to Sunday to include Bank Holidays as and when required for which additional payment is made.
Main duties of the job
This role offers a variety of duties, including cooking, kitchen portering, restaurant and pot washing. You’ll receive support and training for all duties.
As part of your cooking role, you will be responsible for providing a high-quality cooking service to both patients and visitors within the hospital, adhering to all food safety regulations.
As part of the kitchen porter role, your duties will include assisting the cook in charge with all aspects of food provision, deep cleaning the kitchen area, and cleaning equipment used throughout the day.
As part of the restaurant role, you’ll be responsible for providing excellent customer service as part of the front-of-house team. You’ll also be required to restock areas and maintain a clean and hygienic work environment. Handling card and cash payments is also a requirement.
As part of the pot wash role, you’ll be responsible for using an industrial dishwashing machine to ensure key items are washed and returned to their designated areas promptly. Additionally, you’ll maintain a clean and tidy pot wash area.
The department will provide full training. Working hours are between 06:00 am and 20:00 pm.
The successful candidate will receive all uniform.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
