Job overview

This is a fixed term/secondment vacancy until 31/03/2026 to meet the needs of service.

If you are a Hywel Dda University Health Board employee and are applying for this post as a secondment, agreement for the secondment is needed from your current manager prior to application.

Are you a qualified mental health nurse with a keen interest in working with older people to improve their mental health within a general hospital setting? If so, this is a great time to join the Mental Health Liaison team and to be part of building a creative and innovative service for people experiencing mental health problems whilst in a hospital setting.

The team is focussed on providing outstanding care in which patients, families, and carers can have confidence. We are a friendly and well-motivated team, with good moral and supportive management. There are opportunities for progression and for further training.

This role will have a particular focus on working with older adults so experience of working in this field of nursing would be beneficial, however training and support will be provided.

We work closely with our adult Liaison nurse colleagues, supporting each other to provide care to patients of all ages experiencing mental health conditions within Emergency Departments, District General Hospitals and Community Hospitals. This role will offer you the opportunity to develop and utilise existing skills, and each day brings something different.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be involved with early detection and identification of mental health issues, comprehensive assessments, risk assessment and management of patients on our caseload.

We provide teaching for colleagues on a wide range of mental health presentations with an emphasis on non-pharmacological management of delirium.

Working with us will be an excellent opportunity to be part of a supportive and developing Mental Health Liaison Service for adults of all ages.

This is a full time post, but part-time/flexible working would be considered.  Our pattern of working is Monday to Friday.

If you are interested in this post, we welcome your application and if you have any questions regarding the role or your application, please do contact us for a chat.
