Job overview

We are excited to announce an opening for the position of Band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse in our Rehabilitation and Frailty Ward. As a crucial member of our healthcare team, you will play a pivotal role in providing high-quality care to patients in need of rehabilitation and specialised attention for frailty-related conditions.
 

This is an exciting opportunity for an  experienced Nurse who is highly motivated and enthusiastic, with a keen interest in caring for patients with Frailty needs.

Sunderland Ward, South Pembrokeshire Hospital is a 40 bedded community Rehabilitation and Frailty ward.  The ward is friendly and supportive and has a commitment to providing a high quality of nursing care.

Main duties of the job

Demonstrate the Health Board's value, respect, fairness, integrity, honesty, openness and caring, kindness and compassion in everything that you do in the work environment and ensure that others demonstrate the same values.

Delivery of compassionate, high quality, effective, patient centred nursing care; and providing fair, honest and measurable people management.

Provide visible, professional nursing leadership, support, supervision and guidance (in the line with NMC standards) expert clinical advice and undertake management and monitoring activities in line with legal  professional requirements, statutory rules and Health Board policies relating to evidence based practice.

Create and promote a learning culture within the clinical area to support the professional growth and development of all nursing staff, students and (as appropriate) members of the multi-disciplinary team.

Qualifications and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Registered Nurse (Part 1)
  • Current NMC Registration
  • Bachelor degree (or equivalent experience)
  • Pertinent postgraduate diploma (or equivalent development / experience and a willingness to undertake appropriate post graduate diploma level study)
  • Bronze IQT
Desirable criteria
  • Teaching qualification ( or equivalent experience)
  • Recognised management qualification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Able to demonstrate sound knowledge of NMC Code (2015)
  • Experience of working in a multiprofessional enviro
  • Experience of running a ward/area/department
  • Experience of working with pre-registration nursing / midwifery students
  • Experience of formal /informal teaching and of mentoring pre-registration nursing or midwifery students
  • Understanding of wider nursing and health care related agenda
  • IT skills
  • Supervisory management skills
  • Able to relate theory into practice through reflective skills

  • Experience of coordinating a team
