Job overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced nurse to take on the role of a B6 Junior Sister/ Charge nurse, based in Pembrokeshire and at times working in other clinics across the health board.
The post holder will demonstrate knowledge at specialist level and be able to to provide care to a range of patients, with minimal supervision, using various means of communication and consultation mediums.
This role will include management of sexually transmitted infections, provision of contraception, cervical screening and care of women requesting termination of pregnancy.
The post holder will be expected to maintain and demonstrate up to date evidence based knowledge of sexual and reproductive health care and will be supported to gain enhanced skills such as fitting of intrauterine contraception .
The post holder will support and work in conjunction with the Band 7 who has continuing responsibility and, in their absence, deputise, ensuring efficient/effective management of the department. You will provide supervisory management and leadership skills and support to junior members of staff and be motivated towards self-development in both management and leadership. studies.

Main duties of the job
Carry out clinical consultations both virtual and face to face for a wide range of sexual and reproductive health care concerns.
To provide autonomous nursing care to patients with contraceptive needs, using a recognised contraception qualification, and competence at supplying all methods of contraception, using PGD's.
To utilise specialist knowledge and skills and undertake procedures and practices such as cryotherapy, speculum examination, contraceptive implant insertion and removal.
To undertake Pregnancy Advisory Service Consultations with patients requesting termination of pregnancy, discussing options and giving comprehensive information to ensure safe care.
To care for women having Manual Vacuum Aspiration Abortion procedures.
To be a credible and approachable role model for junior staff and students providing clinical support and guidance as required.
To have knowledge of and adhere to local and national guidelines, policies and procedures specific to the safeguarding of children, young people and adults.
The post holder will assess Fraser Competence of clients aged under 16 years and will carry out sexual exploitation and risk assessment on all clients aged under 18 years.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse or Registered Midwife.
- Current NMC registration.
- Post registration/ postgraduate qualification in specialist area / evidence of post registration study at equivalent level.
- Proficient level of knowledge in clinical Speciality.
- Essential Skills in Abortion Care Module.
- FRSH Online Theory Assessment.
- Cervical Cytology Course
Desirable criteria
- NDFSRH or evidence of working towards.
- Teaching Qualification.
- Management Qualification.
- BASHH Sexually transmitted Infections foundation Course.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of working in Integrated Sexual Health clinics, including PAS consultations.
- Venepuncture.
- Experience of working with PGDs
- Subdermal Implant Insertion and removal.
- Experience of working in a multi-professional environment.
- Experience of undertaking audit.
Desirable criteria
- LoC coil fitting or working towards.
- Ultrasound scanning experience/qualification.
- Experience of working with pre-registration nursing/midwifery students in a mentorship role.
