Working as part of the Medical Directorate, the role of Doctor Support Hub Manager will be responsible for leading and co-ordinating a centralised support service for medical professionals. The post holder will ensure that doctors receive timely, effective, and compassionate assistance to help them navigate sensitive and complex issues related to their professional development, wellbeing, and career progression. The role focuses on promoting resilience, enhancing job satisfaction, and empowering medical staff to thrive in their roles.
Offered on a temporary, 18-month, part-time basis, this role is part of a newly established Doctor Support Hub service. Its continuation will depend on the success and outcomes of ongoing service evaluation. The post holder will be expected to deliver workshops, actively raise awareness of the Doctor Support Hub, and play a key role in its ongoing development and refinement. To succeed, the post holder must be an excellent communicator, capable of working autonomously, and bring an innovative approach to service delivery and problem-solving.
Main duties of the job

The post holder will work within the Medical Directorate's Doctor Support Hub, providing specialist one-to-one support for medical staff.

Support includes bespoke guidance and advice on sensitive, contentious, and complex issues such as health and wellbeing difficulties, behavioural issues and investigations.

The aim is to enable professional progression and development while promoting wellbeing and resilience.

Working for our organisation
Hywel Dda University Health Board plans and provides NHS healthcare services for people living in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire, and bordering counties.
We have over 13,000 staff and together we provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services.
We work in partnership with the three local authorities, as well as public, private and third sector colleagues, including our valued team of volunteers.

- Four main hospitals: Bronglais Hospital in Aberystwyth; Glangwili Hospital in Carmarthen; Prince Philip Hospital in Llanelli; and Withybush Hospital in Haverfordwest

Qualifications & Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Degree or professional Qualification or equivalent, relevant training and experience
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Post graduate level of knowledge or demonstrable experience in a relevant subject e.g. HR / Employee Relations / Employment Law / Coaching and Mentoring / Psychology or Psychological therapy
- Knowledge of HR policies and GMC professional standards
Desirable criteria
- Recognised teaching qualification
- Coaching qualification
- Psychology or Psychological Therapy qualification
Experience
Essential criteria
- Post qualification experience of using a range of coaching and mentoring skills to assess individual needs and establish the individual’s will and perceived obstacles on areas including wellbeing, change management and maximising performance.
- Evidence of workshop design, development and delivery to a broad range of stakeholders in various sized groups via inductions, workshops and conferences
- Experience of working with sensitive and confidential information and resolving conflicting views and demands in line with policies
- Experience in using a variety of IT packages (e.g., MS Office)
Desirable criteria
- Experience of creating and managing specific working groups with colleagues and stakeholders to achieve PSU objectives on sensitive, complex and contentious issues.
- Experience of managing referrals to specialist support services resources, using discretion to establish the best support whilst remaining within departmental budgetary parameters
- Previous experience of working within undergraduate/postgraduate healthcare education or another professional group.
- Working knowledge of legislation including Equality Act 2010 (EA), General Data Protection Regulation 2018 (GDPR), Freedom of Information Act (FOI) 2000, Occupational Health Law and reasonable adjustments within learning and teaching environments
- Understanding of the medical profession
- Proven experience of service user contact, record keeping and maintaining accurate and contemporaneous information
- Experience of marketing of services and raising awareness of a positive support culture e.g., through delivering training at inductions, workshops, outreach, conferences and other activities
