Joint post Consultant Psychiatrist in Psychiatry of Intellectual Disability (ID) (0.4 WTE) Consultant psychiatrist in Adult Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (Cheshire) service (0.6 WTE)

This is a newly developed full-time community-based post.  Full-time and part-time applications (as part of a job share arrangement) will be considered.

The base for the Adult Intellectual Disability role covering Wirral   is at the Stein Centre. The Adult ADHD post will cover Cheshire West and Cheshire East with clinics across both areas. Contractual base to be agreed.

The service has a base at the Stein Centre, St Catherine’s Hospital, Birkenhead attendance will be required for multi disciplinary team meetings, teaching & training

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide psychiatric input to adults with learning disabilities of 18 years and older living in Wirral. The post holder will be a key member of the Community Learning Disability team based at Millenium Centre Wallasey.  It is also expected that psychiatric assessment, advice and liaison will be given in a variety of community locations.  The post holder is expected to carry out assessments of complex cases and support development of multi-disciplinary management plans.

The consultant will have access to adult Intellectual disability assessment and treatment beds at Eastways and Greenways units but may also access Wirral General Psychiatry beds if appropriate and in liaison with Consultant colleagues.

The consultant will be expected to work in close liaison with the wider community health teams, social services teams, provider services, and other statutory and voluntary agencies.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • MbChB, MBBS or equivalent
  • Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists or equivalent
  • A CCT in Psychiatry of Intellectual Disability or the candidate is within 6 months of completing their CCT
  • Registered with the Royal College of Psychiatrists for CPD or willing to apply for such
Desirable criteria
  • Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management.
  • Additional Clinical or post-graduate qualification

ELIGIBILITY

Essential criteria
  • Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
  • Included on the GMC Specialist Register OR within six months.
  • Approved clinician status OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment
  • Approved under S12 OR able to achieve with 3 months of appointment
Desirable criteria
  • In good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice
