The Associate Director of Corporate Governance is a critically important role within Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (CWP) - working closely with the Chair, Chief Executive Office and the Board of Directors. We are looking for an individual with the highest levels of integrity and the ability to guide senior leaders effectively on complex matters. We need someone who can work at pace in an ambitious organisation, providing leadership to our governance team and confidently working with multiple stakeholders including our Council of Governors. We are keen to ensure that governance is an enabler of effective and ambitious collaborative working - and are looking for an individual who shares our vision.

Working for our organisation
CWP provides health and care services for local people, including mental health, learning disability, community physical health and all-age disability care – including the provision of three GP surgeries. We employ more than 4,500 staff across 62 sites in Wirral and Cheshire, as well as Trafford, Warrington, Bolton, Halton and Liverpool, serving a population of over 1 million people. We also provide highly specialist services for 2 million across the North West as a whole.

Person specification
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Master’s degree level or equivalent experience
- CGI (Chartered Governance Institute) qualified
Knowledge and Expertise
Essential criteria
- Knowledge of corporate governance issues, with proven ability to understand and advise on relevant legislation, regulations and standing orders
- Knowledge of strategic planning
- Knowledge of the Freedom of Information Act
Desirable criteria
- An understanding of Legal Services in the NHS
Experience
Essential criteria
- Senior level experience within a highly confidential environment
- Proven Experience establishing and maintaining relationships with key internal and external individuals, developing alliances and partnerships
- Ability to understand and give advice to the Board on relevant legislation and interpretation of regulations, standing orders and NHS Provider License
- Experience of strategic planning- preferably in NHS environment
- Track record of advising Boards on corporate responsibility and liability
- Experience of managing people and budgets
Desirable criteria
- Experience gained in the NHS ideally working within a Foundation Trust
